Melissa Daub for Wayne County Commissioner

Commissioner Melissa Daub was first elected to the Wayne County Commission in 2018. She represents District 10, which includes Canton Township, the City of Plymouth, and voting precincts 3, 4, & 5 in Plymouth Township.

A proud graduate of Plymouth-Canton High School, Commissioner Daub holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She lives in Canton with her senior rescue dog, Toby.

Commissioner Daub serves as the Chair of the Committee on Audit. She is the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary, and Homeland Security, and also serves on the Committee on Seniors and Veterans Services.

Infrastructure

  • $7 million Township Road Initiative in 2023-24 budget

  • $4.75 million Cherry Hill Village Redevelopment Project

  • Introduced a resolution supporting HB 4382-83 to amend Chapter 22 of the Michigan Drain Code of 1956, which would allow Drain Commissioners to have access to additional stormwater management tools to mitigate storm damage

  • Road improvements to Hannan Road from Van Born to Michigan Ave

  • Installation of improved traffic signal at Palmer and Lotz

  • Reconstruction of Sheldon Road Bridge over Lower Rouge River

  • Resurfacing of Beck Rd from Ford to Warren

  • Signal Modernization at Saltz, Ridge, Denton intersection

Public Health & Climate

  • $300,000 for Western Wayne Therapeutic Program, run by Canton Township Leisure Services

  • Contract to install 100 Narcan vending machines throughout Wayne County

  • $13.4 million contract with Wayne RESA to provide educational and mental health services to Wayne County students (outside of City of Detroit)

  • Contract with JustAir to install 100 fixed air monitors and 500 mobile air monitors with the goals of reducing overall levels of emissions and concentration of air pollutants in Wayne County and provide real-time data to the public through interactive dashboards

  • Approval of the creation of a Wayne County Sustainability Department

  • Lighting and new equipment for Plymouth Cultural Center

  • Canton Township Heritage Park Splash Pad improvements

  • Wilcox Lake Restoration Project
